A lot of words in English come from the Latin language.
In Latin, singular nouns end in "-us" and plural nouns end in "-i".
For example:
1 octopus, 2 octopi
1 cactus, 2 cacti
... but a lot of people say "octopuses" and "cactuses".
This blog is mainly to explain a different English language expression every day. Sometimes I post other stuff. I also have a YouTube channel which is mostly about computer software: https://www.youtube.com/englishspacedog
