groggy
'groggy' is an adjective meaning: sleepy, slow-witted.
I think it originally came from the Old English word 'grog', which is slang for beer or alcohol, especially cheap alcohol which people used to get drunk.
By the way, the origin of the word 'alcohol' is Arabic. It was originally "al-kuhl", and in French it is 'alcool'. I always have trouble spelling this word.
