This was my previous car. It lasted 15 years.

This morning I was going to work on the subway and the woman beside me smelled smoke, and then there was a lot of smoke in the car. There was a crazy guy yelling in the subway car, so I thought that he had set a fire. So the subway stopped and we all got out and the fire department came and then we stood around for half an hour in -11 degree temperature. I had a heavy winter coat, but my feet were freezing because my boots were not thick enough for -11 degree weather. Finally another subway train came and I got to work, but I was late and I felt sick all day.

These are slides of the legislature in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Manitoba is the province west of Ontario, and I was there around 1987.
The statue on top of the Manitoba legislature is called "Golden Boy".
It is barely visible in the first photo.
The structure is a monument to Louis Riel.
He led 2 rebellions of the Metis people against the Canadian government, and was executed.
The Metis are people who are part native, and part French-Canadian.
They consider Louis Riel a hero today.
The car belongs to someone who is not happy with the government.
Look at how big cars were in the olden days :)
Finally, after spending 2 or 3 days re-installing Windows XP, I have the Optex slide scanner working.
These are the first slide scans. It looks like Fort MacMurray, Alberta, which is a small town near the Arctic Circle where I worked for 3 months around 1987.
Fort MacMurray is/was only a few thousand people, but it is a very important place for Canada because it has oil.
The building on the left side of the street is the Peter Pond shopping mall, which is/was the only shopping mall in town.
I think that the water is the Athabasca River. People don't go outside much, because of the black-flies. Usually they stay inside and drink. ha ha.
Most of the trees up north look like this. They are very tall and thin, with short branches.

I'm having problems with my PC again.
I tried to install the OPTEX slide scanner, and the OPTEX driver replaced some Windows files with crippled versions that force me to use their software as the default image editor. Then the drivers wouldn't recognize the scanner and forced me to re-install the operating system. So I lost all my files. And I lost a whole day. Thank you OPTEX :(
